glares white through a dusty sky. Hot winds of sweeping dust hold unfettered sway, raising their yellow clouds of granules into the light premeated heavens, engulfing crumbling mounds of ruins, enveloping the rank desert vegetation and over extending the confines of the wilderness, making its barrens more barren. Lifeless vague mysterious shapes glimmer in the inconstant sands, vestices of dust in eddying whirlwinds race over the plain; sometimes an utter lifelessness is wrapped in the deepest silence. How vast it all seems! This unbroken landscape, limited only by the sinking of the heavens to the earth, displays no bounds to the finite thought of man. It gives him a sense of uncontrolled freedom, for here he can wander unconstrained
