7th December 1915 Tuesday
A day of importance and of climax. Took out Brigade fatigue party to collect stones for roadmaking. The Brigade went out further afield on manoeuvres. Recalled suddenly at 1 o’c by motor orderly as battalion to entrain at once for Lake Doiran. Great rush all the afternoon. Everything ready now A and B Coys ready to go at 11 o’c. C and ourselves at 3 tomorrow.
Lie down fully dressed ready to move at a minute’s notice. Leather jackets issued to the men. Got hold of one myself. Gloves also issued.
Funny people the military to move you at such short notice!
