Latest rumour that the French have taken over this whole ‘show’

13th November [1915] (Saturday)

Glorious morning developing into an unusually hot day. Sought peace most of the morning in a bathing parade under platoon arrangements which meant that having got rid of the men, Cross and I sat in about 10 inches of water, and passed a bit of soap up and down the bank, for an hour. No parade in the afternoon. Replay of football match C. v. D. C 2 D 0. A big dose of men’s letters for censoring has made me too lazy to write much.
Latest rumour that the French have taken over this whole ‘show’ and that we are being withdrawn. Bet 5 francs even money with Smellie that we are not in Alexandria within 3 weeks. Later rumour via [?]Ram the Lanc Fus. Padre that the 65th Brigade is to be brigaded with the 10th (Irish) Div and go up country at once. All divisional stores are being evenly distributed between the 3 Brigades so do not think rumour very likely. Wish to God that something would happen. This is too deadly dull for anything.
