Large forces of Bulgars have been moved from the Vardar to Doiran

17 August [1916] Thursday

Jerry taken ill again yesterday on PITON ROCHEUX. Sleeping in my dugout. Turned in at 11.30 intending to sleep through the night. Awakened midnight by Jerry climbing over me then again 1am by a chit from Anderson to keep a good look out as the French expected a counter attack, then again 4 am by Jerry climbing over me again. Large forces of Bulgars have been moved from the Vardar to Doiran and the French anticipate trouble. Slight shelling 10am. Very hot day.
Jerry gone to hospital with a temperature of 103 degrees and the promise of a higher one. Turned in Midnight after usual knock around picquet.
