Fine day. Rifle fire last night near Pitor Boise. Sykes unwell. Took middle watch. Large draft arrived from 3rd Kings of very fine looking fellows who have nearly all been in France or have wound marks. Discussed Goldies Hill with Colonel and Bde Major and was ordered to go out tomorrow morning to a hill a mile front of the lines to observe hill from the flank. Divisional Intelligence reported my patrol fully, publishing names of all the four of us – CSM, the two men and myself. The previous report reached Brigade too late and unfortunately for us has never gone further. On Hill 6 examining ground in front.
