I have so many letters to write & so many to thank for at home that I hardly know where to start. All the letters from home are a never failing joy, and as I said the post is really the event of the day. It was awfully good of your [sic] to think of the chocolate. I’m afraid I’m a terrible glutton and very little in the eatable line remains near me very long. As a matter of fact though we get any amount of food here, probably a bit too much! Still really as a matter of fact we can in addition buy any amount of stuff in the canteens estaminels etc. so perhaps it’s really hardly worth while sending much out. Here all goes well through [sic] our rest is more or less over still the real work hasn’t started yet – I don’t think many will be sorry when it does!
