Wire up from hospital that Jerry Jennison is dangerously ill

28 August 1916 Monday

MIHAILOVA. Lounged about camp all day in precious little clothes and rested when I could.
Wire up from hospital that Jerry Jennison is dangerously ill – poor devil. He was never fit for service abroad and was doing his best for his country. When a 1st Lt on the Staff he was Kings messenger in Egypt.
Paraded again 7.15 and passed Bde starting point 8pm and marched off SW the Batt at the head of the Brigade. Very good march indeed and very even and fast – no unnecessary checks. Curious revival of civilization to see a big train again and on the Karasouli line.
Rest up midnight near the shore of Lake ARDZAN near the village of SPANCOVA, and just lay down in the open to sleep.
