[1918] coverd with pine trees.
On one of these close to the town is a big building with a great statue on top Notre Dame de something or another whose special jobs it is to look after sailors. I should think she has gladdened the hearts of many sufferers from sea sickness before me.
I was down the town but didnt like it much except a few of the streets which have avenues of tall trees down them now all covered with young green a thing you dont see in Egypt & Palestine.
There is I think the biggest artificial sea wall I have ever seen and very extensive docks which come right into the centre of the town indeed there were warships moored along one side of the local college green.
I trespassed through some local magnates pine woods too and got some lovely views of the country
