[c. April 1918] grumbled at the sandstorms which are at their worst this time of year.
I was in Port Said one day to have a look around. The harbour and Europaean quarters were all right but the native quarter which was out of bounds must be a proper old slum as the houses are all about four stories high and the streets about five feet wide.
I am saving up a job for the next time I get on leave as I want your help. I think the income tax people have been robbing me and want to get it back if they have been doing so.
I have gone to another company where one of the officers is a TCD man from Letterkenny called Johnstone
