[12th November[1917]] Troopers of real war with no attempt at effect except perhaps the Emu plumes in their slouch hats, all mounted on fine looking australian “Hairies” with long manes and tails, steadily cantering into action with big crumps lighting not half a mile away put into the shade peace time cavalry as a spectacle.
I wish the Turks could have seen them but I’m sure they have felt them by now anyway.
I don’t know anything about the scheme of the battle but I know the carrying out of it by our infantry was magnificent & I’ve no doubt the cavalry was as good.
I dont believe the bosche in his palmiest days could have done it
