Heard story of 10th Division having been caught

8th December 1915 Wednesday

The real thing at last. Left the old camp at 3am. Lost hours at the station, apparently through the Greeks and our Brigade not understanding each other. Left Salonika 9.00 and reached Lake Doiran at 12.30 meeting a full train of wounded of Irish Regts and heard some story of the 10th Division having been caught last night short of ammunition and cut up. Told at the station by the C.O. that things were very serious with the Allies and that we would move at once lightening our kits as far as possible. Marched out a mile and had dinner. Moved again 4.30 and marched along the bank of Lake Doiran, through the town of Doiran, over a very uneven road to a camp in the hills near Hasanli where we lay for the night.
