Thursday
My dearest, this was to have been my off day but somehow developed rather busily in afternoon and I find that I didnt get home any earlier than usual. Did I ever say (I think not) how I liked the little bird It was awfully nice I am thinking was it a copy or your own It is an awfully nice little drawing anyway. I am hanging it on my shelf near your photo which will also stay there now Till we vacate the dugout. I suppose you will be starting homeward about tomorrow. I hope youll keep well my dearie over there because its terifically important now with the little one doing so well and all. Tell me how you feel do you be as sick as you were some times before I went. How about Wilson and the Peace affairs. I see <by> tonights wireless he is very severely handled by the Sun & other NY papers. This may be that they are opposed to him on American political Grounds. But he seems very determined to go on peace-campaigning The Peace is undoubtedly in the Air still its hard to tell just where etc. I dont think somehow it will be very long. I thought Balfour very reasonable in his letter to the President I am rather glad to have Balfour as Foreign Secretary he will never go too far or say things to make bad blood
