[April 1918] My new O.C. seems very nice and is a clever engineer which will be something new and will probably mean we will get better jobs than the other companies in our division. One of the other officers is a T.C.D. man a year senior to me in the engineering school I knew him slightly before.
Grand letters from you and Mary with splendid photo’s of Pa Roby and Barny I must say they all looked flourishing. I hope your leg is all right again now as I’m sure it will be if you gave it a chance.
I’m sorry to hear poor Shiela is dead but she was very old all the same I shall miss her sitting outside the drawing room window waiting for me to go out along the river. Sarah must have been sad.
