My dearie, Thank you awfully much for sending the lovely parcel I am awfully pleased with it. I couldnt forbear taking a pair of mittens for myself. Indeed it was a low thing to do as they are extraordinarily valuable gifts for the men who are short of these things but I do a bit of motorcycling these days and it is really colder than anything else. Do not forget to thank the other good folk who helped to make up the Parcel. I wish there was enough for every one in the Battery but that would be rather overmuch to expect. That was a wonderful tale about the Can Pay people Very satisfactory I call it and dont whatever you do send back anything now. I think its a wonderful example of the great machine that has gripped us. How could the War ever stop. A million departmental obstacles would immediately come in view
