Four months out of England tonight

4th January 1916

Took over Brigade picquet – from Bloore – 10 prisoners. Four months out of England tonight – seems more like four years.
Weather rather colder today – very strong wind from the North West with a feeling of snow in it. Knocked about the picquets all day, which gradually got worse till the sky looked very threatening. Smellie and Anderson over toward Akburnar reconnoitring. Rutherford and Nelson both up from Salonique with large supplies for mess.
Sat for a long time in Green’s room where 4 mats made a great improvement in the comfort of the place.
Turned in 10.15 and censored a few letters.
Wrote Father and Mrs Blundell.
