PITON ROCHEUX observation post as it is called telegraphically O.PIP. Heavy shelling all day by British and French. 26 Div successful in taking HORSESHOE HILL yesterday or this morning. Heavy Bulgar shelling of my O.PIP and other places round all day. Dashed pleasing noise a shell when you have no dug out and no place whereon to lay your limbs. Still no casualties. My leg still very sore. So sore in fact that I could not bear to climb the O.PIP twice and once up stayed up all day.
Small mail. Letters from Gick, Aunt Isabel and one with lovely photos of monasteries from Tom!
