By God it is a rest after the worry of up the line

6th-10th September [1916]

Day after day without anything of importance. In bed all the time. Temperature sometimes up sometimes sub normal. By God it is a rest after the worry of up the line – water to wash, shave and tooth water brought round 6 am. Then breakfast, then a long forenoon during which come Doctor’s Rounds following temperature and pulse taking. Then 1 pm lunch tea and washing and tooth water again 5, dinner 7 and then settle down for the night. Nearly all the men in with malaria.
