Absolutely wet and done and as stiff and sore from riding

6th December [1915] Monday

Got into camp at 7 am absolutely wet and done and as stiff and sore from riding as I could possibly be and then had the pleasure of learning that we were for the Div General’s Inspection at 12.30 pm! It came off absolutely punctual a really remarkable thing. For the first time that I remember the Divisional Brigade Generals were both complimentary to us. Slack afternoon, most of which I slept through. Turned in with the comforting rumour that it was part of our agreement with Greece that all British troops should be out of it by 1st January – only 3 weeks longer.
