for almost a foot till it had shaken out the supports & then heaved itself into the trench. Luckily it was lunch hour as about 3 tons came in. Abandoned. On further consideration will start again tomorrow & try to make something of it. Very Disappointed
Everything has gone awry today phones bad Everything wrong.
Engineers from tunnelling coy said they never attempted deep pits from top. Too dangerous, So will have to be content with less. A beastly business. Am thoroly out of sorts this Evening dearie Ugh! Good bye darling your letter tomorrow will cheer me. Wish I was in the Infantry! Your loving Pat.
