the apparent impossibility of getting two days without rain precluded us and so were still here. A rat has given a good deal of trouble He lives I think just behind my head at least that is where he appears to carry on most of his mining activity. He works around the chimney loosening up earth and making holes to spoil the draught of the fire place we have filled up all his “works” and latterly he had been very quiet whether going to undertake new operations or dead I do not
