A night of very heavy rain and constant thunder

11th November 1915

Salonika Greece

6 days since landing. A night of very heavy rain and constant thunder and lightning followed by a very hot day. Bathing parade in the river 6.30. Morning parade. Manoeuvres generally 10.30 – 12.30. Washing parade for men’s clothes 12.30. Afternoon parade 2.30 on the river bank. Football match C v. D Companies, tie 1 all. Nothing out of the usual to record except a big budget – very much out of the usual!

[?]A.W. and Mrs Stirling and Ian Wakely, Miss Bruce and Cousin Dolly Sarratt. Wrote all four.
Latest rumour this morning that we are wintering here: latest tonight that we are to be ready to move up country at 12 hours notice.
