Wednesday: March 15th 1916: Basra
We remain undisturbed at Margill camp. A number of Arab coolies, returning from work this evening, came in a procession. They danced, or rather tripped along the sand, all singing in chorus. One who acted as leader in the song repeated words which seemed to resemble “O de malte”, and the whole procession would join in the chorus. Then they would halt, assemble in a
