#31 Winter is Coming

Today is a lovely autumnal day in Trinity, like this….

but the nights are drawing in and we all know colder weather is on the way.

It doesn’t snow very often in Dublin, but when it does, Trinity can look amazing.

One of the criticisms levelled against the Berkeley is it’s cold. It’s been a valid point – although it can be gloriously cool in summer, students have on occasion posted the odd picture of hot water bottles and blankets to social media and bemoaned the librarians not switching on the heating. Remember though, those of us in offices in the Berkeley would have been just as chilly (and we don’t control the heating)! Things are now much more tropical due to a heating system put in recently, with new radiators at strategic points.

A wet and cold Dublin is far more likely than a Christmas card snowy one, and the image above from 1972 illustrates this perfectly. My personal favourite from this photo is the chap with the CND logo on his jacket. We’ve a similar photo, again by Eugene Kelly, as our main image in this post.
