Grades Journey allows staff to transfer assessment marks and grades directly from Blackboard into SITS. Module Assessment Pattern (MAP) information flows into Blackboard creating weighted columns for each Module Assessment Body (MAB). Marks and grades from Blackboard assignments can mapped in a one-to-one method (one assignment to one column) or in a many-to-one method (more than one assignment to one column). Once the marks have been finalised, they can be transferred to SITS. If you have any questions about Grades Journey or are unsure if your module meets the requirements below, please send an email to Stephen Leonard

How to Participate
In order to participate in Grades Journey, you must fill out this Grades Journey form and submit it to the IT Services Helpdesk with the subject title ‘Blackboard Grades Journey’. You must indicate on the form that your modules meet the necessary requirements to go through Grades Journey. Each module must have one nominated user who will be responsible for checking the marks and grades before they are transferred. That user will be the only person capable of locking the Grade Centre and initiating the transfer. The deadline for modules to be submitted for participation in Grades Journey for Michaelmas term is Friday the 30th of November. Please submit the Grades Journey form above to the IT Services Helpdesk with the subject title ‘Blackboard Grades Journey’ before then if you want to participate.
Grades Journey - Frequently Asked Questions
Is my module eligible to be used with Grades Journey?
Your module must not be a parent/child module and it must have at least one non-exam MAB in it’s current MAP for the module to work with Grades Journey.
Can I use Grades Journey without Blackboard assignments or with offline assignments?
Yes, you can create grade columns in the Grades Centre that are not tied to specific assignments. You can put the results of offline assignments into these grade columns and then map them to the Grades Journey weighted columns.
Can I still upload marks and grades directly into SITS?
Yes, nothing will change in relation to the standard uploading of marks and grades into SITS. Even after the module has transferred it is still possible for marks and grades to be edited in SITS.
What happens to the Grade Centre after I’ve locked the columns?
The Grades Centre will enter into a read-only view where you will be unable to edit any marks or grades and you will be unable to view or download any of the student assessments. It is advised that you download the student assignments prior to running Grades Journey if you think you will need them later. This has no impact on student abilities to view their assessments.
What happens if incorrect mark/grade information is passed to SITS?
If incorrect data is transferred over, it can be adjusted and fixed in SITS.
Can Grades Journey be used for exams?
Exam MABs cannot be used with Grades Journey.
Can Grades Journey be used for reassessment?
Grades Journey cannot be used for reassessment.
