Depending on your requirements there are several different services that provide videoconferencing facilities.

These include:

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Skype for Business
  • Blackboard Collaborate Ultra

Who can use this service?

Getting started

Teams (Office 365)

Teams is a collaboration app, available through Office 365.

It allows groups of people to:

  • videoconference
  • chat
  • collaborate on documents
  • broadcast video and meeting content to large online audiences

Teams can be installed on your computer / mobile device or can be used online through a web browser.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is a web conferencing program available to staff for teaching and learning purposes.

It lets instructors:

  • host virtual classrooms with students
  • communicate with students via voice, video, lecture slides and text chat

For further details, instructors can login to Blackboard Learn (mymodule.tcd.ie) and choose the 'Staff Help' tab at the top right of the page.
