Technology-Enhanced Learning Webinar Series



IT Services will be running a series of Technology-Enhanced Learning online webinars from now to late Michaelmas Term to help staff design and develop their Blackboard modules.

These sessions are designed to complement Academic Practice’s 'Adapting our Teaching for Learning Online' module. The webinars focus on providing academics with pedagogically sound guidance on the use of these technologies in their teaching practice. You can attend any webinar, without registering, and sessions will be recorded and made available on this website and the Staff Help section within Blackboard. Some sessions will be repeated based on demand.

Overview

There will be different strands which will combine 1-hour webinars, shorter ‘Quick Looks’ at specific features and drop-in webinars. The five strands are:

  1. Designing Your Blackboard Module (introductory webinars on using Blackboard)
  2. Delivering Live & Recorded Online Sessions (introductory & advanced webinars covering technologies such as Collaborate & Panopto)
  3. Online Assessment (webinars covering online tests, group assignments, Turnitin in Blackboard & managing your Grade Centre)
  4. Social Learning (covering reflective journals, blogs & discussion forums)
  5. Software-Specific & Advanced Sessions (software such as MyTrinityApps and advanced features in Blackboard, Panopto & Collaborate)

Delivering Live & Recorded Lectures with Panopto

Date: Tuesday 29th September
Time: 10-11am
Overview: This webinar will cover how to create and edit videos using Panopto in Blackboard and will also give an overview of how to live-stream (see Windows and Mac guides) your lectures. (strand 2)

Introduction to Lecture Room PC Software & MyTrinityApps

Date: Thursday 1st October
Time: 2.30-3.30pm
Overview: This session will provide a demonstration of the desktop software on computers in the standard IT Services lecture, seminar and computer rooms. It will also cover how to access & download the various software packages from MyTrinityApps such as ArcGIS, Matlab & SPSS. (strand 5)

Panopto Office Hours

Date: Tuesday 6th October

Overview: This is an open session without a set agenda. Please come along if you have any queries relating to Panopto or would like to see specific features demoed. (strand 2)
