Tip 4 - Using Software
Get the software you need for your course and where you can find computers on campus.
Microsoft 365 Apps
As a student, you have access to the Microsoft 365 Apps suite of software free of charge. This suite includes common applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, and Publisher. You also have access to OneDrive which is a form of personal cloud storage.
You can use Microsoft 365 Apps either online or download it on up to five devices running Windows, Mac, Android or iOS.
Access to the Microsoft 365 Apps is via office.tcd.ie. To log in, you will need your Trinity email address and password.
MyTrinityApps is a service that gives you easy access to the most popular academic application software for use on your computer from anywhere.
This service can be accessed via mytrinityapps.tcd.ie. To log in, you will need your Trinity computer account username and password.
You will find the full list of software available when logging into the portal. You can also download various software packages such as SPSS Statistics, SPSS AMOS, and ArcGIS to your own computer with a supported operating system (PC and Mac).
IT Services computer rooms
IT Services computer rooms are located across campus, with both PC and Mac computers available.
For accessing software, all PC rooms have Microsoft 365 Apps and MyTrinityApps installed on the computers by default. Mac rooms also have Microsoft 365 Apps applications available as well as a wide portfolio of software to meet the needs of certain courses.
Please note that the IT Services Computer rooms will have limited capacity as physical distancing measures will be applied in line with government guidelines.
