About Blackboard Learn

Blackboard Learn ( is Trinity's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). You will use Blackboard Learn to access learning material and activities for your course, such as: 

  • Module content, lecture notes and announcements
  • Online lectures, tutorials, and recordings
  • Online assessments

Accessing Blackboard Learn

Once registered as a student, you can access Blackboard Learn from any device with internet access at To log in, you will need your Trinity computer account username and password. Module enrolments in Blackboard are automated based on your student record (viewable on so please check with your school office if the correct modules are not listed. IT Services cannot manually add students to modules.

For guides, support and video tutorials on using Blackboard Learn, click on the Student Help tab after you have logged in. These help pages include introductory guides and video overviews for key tasks, such as using Turnitin to submit assignments.

Getting help with Blackboard Learn

If you are not enrolled on your modules in Blackboard Learn, please contact your school office to ensure you are timetabled for the relevant modules.

If you encounter any issues submitting or accessing an assignment/test etc., please contact your module instructors in the first instance as the module instructors manage the assessment settings.

If you have a technical issue with Blackboard Learn, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Blackboard Ally

Blackboard Ally is an accessibility feature which is available within your modules in Blackboard. Blackboard Ally automatically provides a range of alternative file formats that you can download, such as readable text for screen readers, pictures with captions, and content that is easy to navigate.
