Ordering Dell PCs and information regarding Windows 11

18 October 2021

About Windows 11 support

Over the coming weeks, IT Services will be testing Windows 11 for compatibility with our central systems and services. We will advise you when we have completed successful testing and are in the position to provide support and network connectivity for Windows 11.

If you need to purchase a new computer before we announce our full support for Windows 11, it is important to order new PCs with Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Education operating systems, which will ensure you can easily get connected and get working on the Trinity data network in offices and labs, on the Staff Wi-Fi service or the Staff VPN service.

Purchasing desktops and laptops

As usual you should continue to purchase desktops and laptops through the Trinity Dell Premier Pages. Dell will continue shipping the standard desktop and laptop models with the Trinity Windows 10 Education software image, so no additional action is required from you.

(You might spot that ‘Windows 11 Home’ is the option when viewing the details of the operating system on the Trinity Dell Premier Pages, but you can be assured your new desktop or laptop, ordered via this site, will have the Trinity Windows 10 Education operating system supplied.)

Purchasing non-standard desktops and laptops

If you order a non-standard desktop or laptop before full support for Windows 11 is available, you will need to specify in your order that you require Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Education as the operating system. This will introduce an additional cost. Alternatively, you can check if your local technical support in your School or Unit will downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10 for you.
