IT support for Windows 7 will be ending in January 2020

In January 2020, Microsoft will be withdrawing support and security updates for Windows 7

For this reason, IT Services will no longer provide support after 14th January 2020 for any PCs still running Windows 7.  Any PCs still running Windows 7 will need to be removed from the Trinity network in offices and laboratories. Over the coming weeks we will be emailing staff with information on how to upgrade to Windows 10 or replace their PC.

However, if you're reading this now and you're still running Windows 7, you can get a head start by upgrading to Windows 10 now. The upgrade is straightforward (in most cases) and provides both productivity and security enhancements.

Here's what you should do next

  • If you're a member of staff: A good starting point is to determine if you are using a Windows 7 PC and if it meets the minimum requirements for an upgrade to Windows 10, please see our Windows 7 End of Support web page.

If your PC is too old or out of warranty then you should be moving to a new computer with Windows 10 available from the approved supplier.

If you need any assistance or have further questions please contact the IT Service Desk.

Please note that from 24th September 2019, we will no longer accept new network connection requests for PCs running Windows 7 in offices and laboratories.

Thank you for your time and support in keeping Trinity IT safe and secure!
