2017 New Student Orientation in Numbers

IT Services provide help and support to students, staff and researchers regarding everything IT, from a Windows desktop to high performance computing.  We ran a range of additional support activities during Orientation 2017 and we thought we would share with you some of the impressive numbers that reflect the effort to help everyone get up to speed with how to use IT at Trinity.

  • We ran an Orientation 2017 Information Desk, TCDconnect Clinics and delivered IT Orientation Sessions across Trinity and so we were able to offer 95 extra person days of support to help everyone with their IT needs.
  • We answered 11,166 calls during Orientation from Trinity staff and students
  • The IT Service Desk dealt with a 26% increase in calls in the First Week of Teaching 2017
  • We met with 5510 students at induction sessions in 2017 - up 35% from 2016
  • We delivered IT Orientation Sessions at 45 inductions in 2017
  • 10,000 copies of IT Services User Guide for New Student & TCDconnect were printed
  • Our ‘Getting Started’ home page had 22,613 visits and the Orientation Videos were watched 589 times
  • 93% of all current students have registered on TCDconnect in the first 6 weeks of Semester
  • A total of 25,457 student laptops, tablets and smartphones are now connected on TCDconnect
  • 845 students attended a TCDconnect Clinic for assistance
