Trinity-Owned Laptop Encryption Service
Have you got important or sensitive Trinity data on your laptop? Data security is of critical importance, especially with respect to portable equipment such as laptops. IT Services can provide a data-encryption solution to users of Trinity-owned laptops. The solution for laptops running Windows is called McAfee Drive Encryption (MDE) and for Apple Mac laptops is called McAfee Management of Native Encryption. These solutions use the 512 AES encryption algorithm.
A description of the process involved in using the service is provided below. This service will help users who wish to secure Trinity work-related data which is confidential in nature or of high sensitivity. There is a small charge involved in obtaining this service, as outlined on the request form.
Who can use this service
- Trinity Staff & Students using Trinity-owned laptops
- Hardware: A Trinity-owned laptop
- Software - PC : Windows 7/8.1/10 & McAfee ePO Agent 5.0
- Software - Apple Mac: macOS 10.12 (Sierra) or later & McAfee ePO Agent 5.0
Staff using Trinity-owned laptops who need to encrypt confidential or sensitive Trinity data may apply to have the encryption software installed by a member of IT Services staff by completing the laptop encryption request form. Students using a Trinity-owned laptop wishing to avail of this service will need to get their supervisor (authorising party) to apply on their behalf via the same form.
