Email clients using an older version of security protocol to access Trinity email

Please note that the following message was sent to a selected number of staff members who are using an older version of security protocol to access their Trinity email.  If you did not receive the message below in your email, then your account will not be affected by this work.

Subject: IT Services | Email clients using TLS v1.0/1.1 will no longer work after October 15th 2020

Body of message:

Dear colleague,    
We are writing to inform you of an upcoming Microsoft change that will disrupt your email client’s access to your Trinity email.  

Microsoft has announced that from October 15, 2020, they will no longer allow any email client using the TLS security protocol (versions 1.0 or 1.1) to connect to Office 365.  We have identified your email account as one of a small number of accounts using this security protocol. 


What do you need to do next? 

All you will need to do is update your current email client or switch to a supported email client, such as Outlook, on or before 15th October 2020.  

If you don’t wish to upgrade or switch, then you will only bable to use Office 365 online ( to access your Trinity email after the 15th October.
