IT Services Alerts - Issue Affecting Students Attempting to Download Windows Updates on Windows 10 PCs

Work is continuing with our third-party suppliers to identify the underlying cause. Currently, the issue is affecting very few students as most have now installed the September Windows updates while connected elsewhere.

Work is continuing with our third-party suppliers to resolve this issue.  Many of those affected yesterday have been able to download the required Windows Updates on home broadband or other Wi-Fi networks and so get their devices registered for the TCDconnect service.  For those who are still affected the advice remains to use another Wi-Fi service to obtain the required Windows Updates while we continue to work on resolving the underlying issue.

We are aware of an issue affecting students attempting to download Windows Updates on Windows 10 PCs which are connected to TCDwifi but not yet registered for our TCDconnect service, the student Wi-Fi and wired network service. The issue causes the Windows Update download process to stall, with a message 'Pending Download'. There are no such issues for devices already registered for the service.

The advice for the moment is to connect to another Wi-Fi service, at home or in some other location, in order to download and install the required Windows Updates. You will then be able to pass the security scan for the TCDconnect service and get connected to the student Wi-Fi, and/or wired service in residences.

We are actively working on identifying the underlying issue and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
