IT Services Alerts - TCDconnect security scan for currently registered Windows PCs & Apple Macs, 9am Thurs 26th July, July 26th, 09:00

The following email has been sent to students currently registered with TCDconnect, advising them that they will need to rescan their device to connect to TCDconnet after 9am on Thursday 26th July. 


Dear Student,

One of the features of our TCDconnect service for students is that we can make sure that devices connecting to the student Wi-Fi and wired network services meet certain IT security requirements. This helps to keep your data and Trinity’s IT systems protected and ensures a stable Wi-Fi and wired network service.  We are getting in touch to let you know that from 9am on Thursday, 26th July any Windows PC or Apple Mac that is currently registered for the TCDconnect service will need to successfully pass the TCDconnect security scan once more before regaining connection to the student Wi-Fi and/or wired network service.

What does this mean for me?

If you are using such a device after 9am on Thursday, 26th July, when you launch a web browser you will be brought to a web page requesting you to download and run the security scan once more.  When the scan completes a results page will be displayed.  If your device passes the scan, then you will be connected within 90 seconds. Once your machine has been receiving and installing updates the scan should pass with ease.  If the scan is failed then you will be shown a list of failed items that require action – double-click on any of the items on this list, click the link that is displayed under that item and follow the instructions provided to update your device before running the scan again.  Do not choose ‘Rescan’ until you have followed the steps to correct each failed item.

Having problems downloading the scan file?

If you are not seeing the TCDconnect registration website or you have any problems downloading the scan file, then follow these steps:

  1. Launch a new web browser window e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari
  2. Browse to the following address:
  3. Follow the instructions on screen and you will be brought to the page where you enter your username and password and download the scan file
