Struggles for Justice and Peace: Nonviolent Resistance and Conflict Resolution - 21 April 2017

The international Peace Studies Programme at Trinity College Dublin in partnership with the Institute for International Conflict Resolution and Reconstruction at Dublin City University and the Edward M Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention at Maynooth University organized an international seminar at Trinity College Dublin on Friday 21st of April.

The seminar, entitled 'Struggles for Justice and Peace: Nonviolent Resistance and Conflict Resolution', involved a number of panels and speakers focusing on the key issues of resistance, conflict resolution, struggles for justice and political change in Palestine, Kosovo, Korea, Peru, Colombia, and Northern Ireland.

Speakers included: Dr. Iain Atack (Trinity College Dublin), Frank Smyth (Director of the UN and Conflict Resolution Unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland), Dr. Etain Tannam (Trinity College Dublin), Dr. Yaser Alashqar (Trinity College Dublin), Dr. Gëzim Visoka (Dublin City University), Fr. Sunghwan Kim (Trinity College Dublin), Lynda Sullivan (human rights activist and writer), Eamon Rafter (Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation), Alejandro Valderrama-Herrera (National University of Colombia), Patty Abozaglo (Maynooth University) and Dr. Kieran Doyle (Assistant Director of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention in Maynooth University).
