Book launch and Best Paper prize for Dr. David Mitchell at the Political Studies Association of Ireland Annual Conference 2015

At a packed reception in the conference venue, Cork's Metropole Hotel, noted expert on Northern Ireland politics and peace processes, Professor Jonathan Tonge (Liverpool), launched David's new book, 'Politics and Peace in Northern Ireland: Political Parties and the Implementation of the 1998 Agreement' (Manchester University Press, 2015). During an extended analysis, Professor Tonge praised the book as 'waiting to be written' and 'genuinely brilliant'.

Later that night, David and co-authors Professor Owen Hargie (Ulster) and Dr. Ian Somerville (Leicester), were joint winners of the Best Conference Paper prize for their paper 'Sport for peace in Northern Ireland? A quantitative study of public attitudes to sport, sectarianism and inclusion'. The prize was awarded at the conference dinner by PSAI president, Professor David Farrell.

David Mitchell is Co-ordinator of ISE's MPhil in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, based in Belfast.
