Dr Brendan Ciarán Browne publishes new book on researching conflict and violence

Dr Browne's new book, with co-editor Dr Althea Maria-Rivas (University of Sussex) is now for sale. The collection explores the roles of emotion, violence, uncertainty, identity and positionality within the process of doing research in and on conflict zones, as well as the complexity of methodological choices. It highlights the researchers' own subjectivity and presents a nuanced view of conflict research that goes beyond the messiness inherent in the process of research in and on violence and the potential for violence of research itself. It addresses the uncomfortable spaces of conflict research and the need for reflection on these issues. The book is available from Policy Press/University of Chicago Press and OUP online. It will be released in paperback in the summer.

"At the same time unsettling and empowering. A must read for all students and scholars interested in the world 'out there'." Nicolas Lemay-Hebert, University of Birmingham.
