Peace Brigades International talk at ISE - 29th November 2016

Please join ISE for a short presentation and Q&A with former field volunteers from Peace Brigades International and two visiting WHRDs they accompany in Mexico.

PBI Ireland will give a short introduction to their model of international protective accompaniment and introduce two visiting human rights defenders accompanied by PBI in Mexico. The two women human rights defenders (WHRDs) from Coahuila in Northern Mexico - Cristina Auerbach and María Esmeralda Saldaña - work alongside victims of a coal-mining disaster in their struggle for justice, safe and fair working conditions, and basic human rights. They advocate for workers and victims' rights under extreme pressure and difficult conditions and have been targeted because of this work. They have been accompanied by PBI since 2014 because the extremely high risks they face in carrying out this work.
