CONNOLLY, Fintan (director, scriptwriter, producer) (-)

The bulk of Fintan Connolly’s work has been in television documentaries for RTÉ, TG4 and Channel 4. Most of these have taken social injustice as their theme; a series of interviews about current issues in Ireland, including politics, crime, religion and the North in NO COMMENT (1988); the rights of older tenants in NOTICE TO QUIT (1992); abortion in 50,000 SECRET JOURNEYS (1994); and asylum seekers in INTO 2000 - OUT OF NOWHERE (2000). These interests fed into his feature debut, FLICK (2000), which focuses on two small-time drug dealers in Dublin. This was followed with TROUBLE WITH SEX (2005), about an encounter between a corporate executive and a barman, again set in Dublin. Connolly’s films have been mostly made through his production company, The Picture House, and he also produced, with Helen Fahy, Kevin’s Liddy’s short, HORSE (1993).
