What is provides access to which is an online skills development service offering access to an extensive library of high quality video courses (over 5000) in business, technology and creative skills.

It offers courses on Microsoft Office, WORD, Excel, Outlook, Outlook Calendar, OneDrive, Skype for Business, PowerPoint, Access, project management, communication, and a wide range of other topics.

Why is the College introducing

Over the course of 2016, Microsoft Office 365 was introduced across the campus. A key part of ensuring this is fully utilised is to provide training on topics relevant to staff. We have joined up with to provide staff with access to this vast library of courses all via at a time and place that suits you.

This new e-learning initiative fully supports the strategic plans of the College by transforming the way we offer digital skills training and increasing our capacity for digital skills development.

Why provides access to is a highly regarded online learning platform that is accessible 24/7. Access is via the web and is available on your PC, laptop, tablet and mobile apps.

Videos and tutorials are of a very high standard.

In addition to providing videos of each topic, a transcript of the course is available.

It provides a flexible opportunity to learn and develop skills.

Who can access

All current staff and students can access Lynda.

How do I access

You can access Lynda using your Trinity username and password Simply go to:, input your username, password and click login. In addition to providing videos of each topic, a transcript of the course is available.

Lynda is available on desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile phone. So, you have unlimited access via the web and mobile apps. Also, you can download content to watch offline.

Are there guidelines on how to use Lynda?

Yes, log on to and click on the 'Trinity: Welcome' playlist – you can then select the course on 'How to use' This will provide you with all the information you need to get started.

Do I need to remember another password?

No, access to is via your Trinity username and password

What type of courses are there on

There are over 5,000 courses covering a broad range of topics such as Business, Professional Development, Leadership, Management Courses, Technology e.g. analytics, web design, cloud computing and creative courses and many more.

There are so many courses how do I decide which one I should look at?

To get you started, we have prepared an initial playlist – Trinity: Welcome playlist. This is an introduction to and will help you get up and running. There are also several other Trinity playlists including an introduction to Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype for Business, Outlook and OneDrive.

You may also search the Library to select a course you are interested in. Searches may be made by accessing the ‘Library’ icon at the top of your screen.

What is a Playlist?

A playlist is an organised compilation of courses used to guide you through a learning topic.

We have created playlists for several courses that will be relevant to most staff, initially focussing on Office 365

Do I have to do all parts of each playlist?

It is not necessary to do all parts of the playlists. You can select the course you are interested in and then complete the course. On completion, you will receive a Certificate of completion. You may also access the section of a course you are interested in.

Can I access courses not on the playlists?

Yes, access to courses not on the Trinity playlists is available through the Library icon on

How will benefit me? is an opportunity to learn at your own pace, when and where suits you and either on your PC, laptop, mobile or tablet.

You can plan your development, and track your course history and recent activity.

Certificates of completion are given at the end of each course.

Using will assist you in managing your own skills development.

It provides an extensive library of courses at different skills levels. You choose the course level you are interested in – beginner, intermediate or advanced and you can access information based on your choice.

It will allow you to track your course history and recent activity. You can bookmark your favourite courses, tutorials and specific points within videos.

Certificates of Completion are available at the end of each course.

You can download content to watch offline. Each week additional courses are being added and you have access to these new courses.

Can I access on my tablet, laptop, mobile remotely?

Yes, access to Lynda is via the web on desktop, laptop or mobile device from any location at any time. You can also download content to view when you are not online.

Will IT Services continue to provide training?

Yes, IT Services will continue to provide its normal range of training support and will complement and augment this.

Why is HR not providing this training?

HR are fully supporting this new e-learning initiative as it fully supports the strategic plans of the college by transforming the way we offer digital skills training and increasing our capacity for digital skills development. provides you with unlimited access to training when and where you require it on your PC, mobile and offline.

This is self-directed learning and offers an alternative to class based training available at a time and place that suits you.

I don’t have time for another training course ...

The beauty of is that it is available to you when and where you have time to access it – whether it is on your PC, laptop, tablet or mobile, and either online or offline.

You can select a full course or just select the section of the course you are interested in. It is up to you!

Will help my career development?

Your line manager will be happy to advise you on how will support your career development.

Do I have to use my desktop computer to access it?

No, access is available via the web on your desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile

Is the information secure/confidential?

IT Services have arranged the access to via and is subject to their policies and security protocols.

Are records stored on my file in HR?


Do I get a Certificate?

On completion of a full course you get a certificate of completion. You can download this and retain it for your own records.

Do I receive a Trinity College Certificate of completion?

What reports will issue?

Reports can be organised to suit the needs of individual areas. Reports will be provided on the number of videos watched, the number of courses accessed, the number of users, the average viewing time per login, the total number of courses completed.

Will my line manager see what courses I have been doing?

Yes, if you are accessing your line manager will have visibility on the courses you are viewing.

How much will it cost me?

Access to is free to all Professional staff.

Can students access is being introduced on a pilot basis to staff in CSD initially and depending on the uptake and feedback received from users in the Professional Staff area, a decision will be taken regarding distribution to a wider audience.

What personal information of mine is shared with

The information we share with is your email address, your first name, your surname and your user name.
