Prof. Anne Marie Healy Secures Funding for UK-Ireland Research and Training Partnership ProgrammeSSPC, the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Pharmaceutical Research Centre, has won new funding under the EPSRC-SFI Centres for Doctoral Training (CDT) Partnership programme. The funding, secured from SFI, will enable the SSPC to engage with two of the world leading Schools of Pharmacy in the UK, at the University of Nottingham and University College London, in a new CDT in Transformative Pharmaceutical Technologies.

Pharmacy Student Prize Giving and Industry Networking Event December 2018The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences hosted its annual prize giving ceremony on Wednesday the 5th of December in the Senior Common Room, Front Square. This year, and thanks to a generous sponsorship by Alexion Pharmaceuticals the student prize giving ceremony doubled up as a networking event with our colleagues from the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Trinity launches 40 fully funded Provost’s PhD ProjectTrinity College Dublin has launched 40 fully funded PhD positions across a wide variety of disciplines. The 40 Provost’s PhD Project Awards are open to EU and Non-EU candidates and include an annual stipend of €16,000 for four years.

Congratulations to Atif Madi who has been awarded a grant from Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)Dr Atif Madi, who has been working as a Research Fellow within the Oral Formulations Group of Professor Anne Marie Healy for the past two years, has secured a fund and was awarded a SFI Industry Fellowship.

Professor O'Driscoll appointed to the Board of Directors of ISEVProfessor Lorraine O’Driscoll has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV). ISEV is the global professional society for researchers from academia, clinical settings and industry who are involved in the study of microvesicles and exosomes (collectively termed EVs).

Inaugural Meeting of the H2020-funded Consortium Training in Extracellular Vesicles 2018TRAIN-EV brings together leading European researchers studying exosomes and microvesicles (collectively termed extracellular vesicles (EVs)) in health and disease. Prof Lorraine O’Driscoll is lead P.I. and Director of TRAIN-EV. TRAIN-EV’s other academic, clinical and industry partners are from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Estonia and Portugal. It is funded by the EU Commission’s H2020 Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network (MSCA-ITN) programme by almost €4 million.

School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences involved in EU Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) H2020 programmeThe School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is involved in a €2.3M H2020 student and staff exchange programme ORBIS (Open Research Biopharmaceutical Internships Support). The ORBIS project is aimed at improving the preclinical pathway of medicine development by integrating multidisciplinary research involving academia and industry, as well as raising awareness among the general public of the importance of pharmaceutical research.
