Joint Educational Partnerships

Creating Links Across the Globe

Trinity is committed to developing strong, impactful and sustainable joint educational partnerships. These are in the form of dual degrees, joint degrees, articulation programmes and pathway programmes.

USA

Dual BA degree with Columbia University

  • 2 years at Trinity College Dublin + 2 years at Columbia.
  • Students study in one of 12 streams at Trinity + choose their major at Columbia.
  • Students are awarded two bachelor’s degrees, one from Trinity and from Columbia.

Dual Masters Programme with Columbia University
  • Students complete 4 years at Trinity College Dublin’s School of Engineering + 1 year at Columbia’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science
  • In the 5th Year, students complete course work at Columbia and also submit a dissertation to Trinity.
  • Students are awarded the MAI degree from Trinity and an MS degree from Columbia.

Collaboration with the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California

  • Students complete the 1 year Postgraduate Certificate course in Orofacial Pain at Trinity College Dublin and then have the opportunity to join the University of Southern California’s 3 year online master’s degree in orofacial pain and oral medicine from the second year
  • The programme is designed for general dental practitioners or dental specialists to enable them to develop their skills set, through learning and research, in order to work at an advanced level within dental practice
  • It includes a mix of hands-on training at Trinity with online didactic instruction — including weekly live webinar sessions with faculty and other residents and video lectures provided by the University of Southern California

China

Collaborative Postgraduate Partnership with Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU)

  • Year 1 at Beijing Foreign Studies University + Year 2 at Trinity College Dublin + Year 3 at BFSU
  • 1-year Trinity master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Students are awarded two master’s degrees, one from Trinity and one from BFSU

4+1 Masters Pathway Programme with Harbin Institute of Technology

  • 4 years at Harbin Institute of Technology + 1 year at Trinity College Dublin
  • Students complete the 4 years of their undergraduate Engineering programme at Harbin Institute of Technology and may then apply to study at Trinity for year 5 in order to be awarded a master’s degree in Engineering
  • Students are awarded the undergraduate degree from Harbin and the masters degree from Trinity

Collaborative Postgraduate Partnership with Minzu University of China

  • 1 year at Minzu University + 1 year at Trinity College Dublin + 1 year at Minzu University
  • 1-year Trinity master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Students are awarded two master’s degrees, one from Trinity College Dublin and one from Minzu University

Double Diploma in Engineering with University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI)

  • 3 years at the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong Joint Institute + 2 years at Trinity College Dublin
  • Fourth year of the undergraduate degree is spent at Trinity, with an option to complete a Trinity MAI in year five
  • Students are awarded an undergraduate degree from UM-SJTU and a master’s degree from Trinity

4+1 Masters Pathway Programme with Soochow University

  • 4 years at Soochow University + 1 year at Trinity College Dublin
  • Students complete the 4 years of their undergraduate programme at Soochow University and may then apply to study at Trinity for year 5 in order to be awarded a master’s degree in Energy Science
  • Students are awarded the undergraduate degree from Soochow and the masters degree from Trinity

 

Singapore

Joint Degree in Physiotherapy with Singapore Institute of Technology

  • 4-year undergraduate joint degree in Physiotherapy
  • Jointly taught by staff of Singapore Institute of Technology and Trinity College Dublin
  • 6-week immersion programme at Trinity
  • Students are awarded one joint undergraduate degree from both SIT and Trinity

India

International Engineering Programme with Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET)

  • 2 years at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology + 2 years at Trinity College Dublin
  • TIET students transfer to Trinity in year 3 of their undergraduate engineering degree
  • Students are awarded a BAI from Trinity after Year 4, or can progress into Year 5 and graduate with a Trinity MAI

Collaborative undergraduate partnership with Manipal Academy of Higher Education

  • 2 years at Manipal Academy of Higher Education + 2 years at Trinity College Dublin
  • Manipal students join Trinity for year 3 and 4 of their undergraduate degree in engineering
  • Students are awarded a BAI from Trinity, or can progress into Year 5 and graduate with a Trinity MAI

Europe

United Arab Emirates

4+1 Masters Pathway Programme with Abu Dhabi University
  • 4 years at Abu Dhabi University + 1 year at Trinity College Dublin
  • Students complete the 4 years of their undergraduate programme at Abu Dhabi University and may then apply to study at Trinity for year 5 in order to be awarded a master’s degree in Engineering
  • Students are awarded the undergraduate degree from Abu Dhabi University and the masters degree from Trinity
