Trinity Staff Mobility

Trinity works with over 300 universities around the world, offering opportunities from exchange programmes to joint education partnerships.

Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ programme offers academic and administrative staff the opportunity to undertake a mobility. This may take the form of a short secondment, job-shadowing or attendance at workshops, courses or a staff training week. Academic staff also have the option to teach at a partner institution.

Participating staff receive an EU grant for contribution to the costs for travel and subsistence, as a reimbursement after the period abroad. Please note, opportunities may be limited due to funding availability.

Why consider a staff mobility? Mobility can offer you professional development, networking and collaboration opportunities, widening of your knowledge base and expertise, exploration of new language & culture, and exposure to other higher education institutions & best practices.

Erasmus+ EU Teaching Mobility

Basic criteria for teaching mobility:

  • Minimum of 2 working days and maximum of 2 months, excluding travel time. Average duration of 1 week.
  • Minimum of 8 hours of teaching per week, and teaching should be part of the local syllabus (i.e. not guest lectures).
  • Host institution must have an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE).
  • Trinity must have a staff exchange agreement with the host institution.
  • The main purpose of the visit must be teaching although any additional time can be spent on research collaboration, meeting with colleagues and exchange students.

How to Apply:

Teaching mobilities must be undertaken at one of Trinity's current exchange partners in your subject area with whom we have a valid Inter-institutional Agreement for teaching mobility. Please contact erasmus@tcd.ie with any questions you may have in relation to this. Once a partner university has confirmed that they are willing to act as host, you should contact the Erasmus Officer in Trinity Global. The Erasmus team will explore whether there is funding available to support your mobility and provide you with the necessary documentation to submit.

Required documents for teaching mobility (available from erasmus@tcd.ie):

  • Mobility Agreement for Teaching
  • Grant Agreement for Staff Mobility
  • Confirmation of Attendance
  • Grant Acknowledgement form (after mobility)

Erasmus+ EU Training Mobility

Training activities can be undertaken in any institution or enterprise in an Erasmus+ Programme country. A good place to start would be opportunities at our European partner institutions. Depending on your area of work, many universities offer International Staff Training Weeks which provide an opportunity to follow a fixed training programme and benefit from opportunities to meet with colleagues from many other universities in related fields at the same time.

Basic criteria for training mobility:

  • Minimum of 2 working days and maximum of 2 months (excluding travel time). Average duration of 1 week.

How to Apply:

With the approval of your Head of Department, you should first contact your prospective host institution requesting them to host your mobility. Once they have confirmed that, you should contact the Erasmus Officer in Trinity Global. The Erasmus Office will explore whether there is funding available to support your mobility and provide you with the necessary documentation to submit.

Required documents for training mobility (available from erasmus@tcd.ie):

  • Mobility Agreement for Training
  • Erasmus Grant Agreement
  • Confirmation of Attendance Certificate
  • Grant Acknowledgement form (after mobility)
