This Professional Learning Module is targeted to the needs of academic staff and all those who support teaching and learning at Trinity. Run by the Trinity Inclusive Curriculum Team, this module is tailored to the Trinity context, modelled on the National Forum for Teaching and Learning, AHEAD and UCD Digital Badge in Universal Design for Learning. Those who complete the module are eligible to claim the Digital Badge in UDL from the National Forum for Teaching and Learning. Participation involves no more than 20 hours in total, with most weeks requiring two hours engagement at the most. The Module is run during the academic year, and involves predominately self-directed and peer group learning, combined with three online webinars.
A pilot programme of face-to-face Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Training was delivered jointly by the Director of Diversity & Inclusion and the Equality Officer in 2017/18, with both student and staff groups taking part.
The training covers key EDI concepts, Trinity policies and diversity stats, and a variety of practical scenarios. It concludes with a goal-setting exercise for ongoing progress after the training. Feedback has been very positive and it is intended to rollout the training to further groups in the coming months.
Trinity has a comprehensive Gender Identity and Gender Expression Policy which gives practical guidance on how to be inclusive of all gender identities in the Trinity context. As part of the implementation of this policy, and Trinity's general commitment to equality and diversity, Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) have been engaged to deliver introductory training in gender identity and transgender inclusion.
