Application Process
Step #1 Research your Options
Please read the Engineering exchange guidance and regulations. We also recommend reading the Frequently Asked Questions. Research the course offerings for exchange students at the universities you are interested in and be sure to inform yourself about availability of suitable modules that fulfil any pre-requisites for 5th year modules you wish to take. Having all research your preferred exchange options, discuss these with your department coordinators to decide if an Erasmus Exchange is suitable for you and to get advice.
Step 2: Apply directly to the Engineering School for an Erasmus nomination
Applications must be made to the Engineering School using the official application form and additional required documentation listed:
- Application form
- Short motivational Letter (500 words max)
- Signed declaration
Please submit all documentation together in an email to InternationalEng@tcd.ie. Deadline: Friday, 16th December 2022. .Handwritten, incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. The Engineering School International Committee will review applications and alert successful nominees within 2 weeks.
The purpose of this application is to secure a nomination for an exchange place. (Students who are successful in being nominated will then have to formally submit an application to the Erasmus office in Trinity (Step 3) and subsequently will be required to make a separate application to the host university.(Step 4)
Funding
There is funding available for those participating in an Erasmus exchange programme. All EU students qualify for an Erasmus Mobility Grant which covers some living expenses. Countries are banded depending on the cost of living there, with higher grants given to those studying in more expensive countries. For the most up-to-date grant values, please contact the Erasmus office at Erasmus@tcd.ie.
