Dr. Elaine Laing is an Assistant Professor in Finance and Director of the Global Business (B.B.S) programme. She holds a Ph.D. degree from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Whilst completing her doctorate, she was a visiting scholar in the HEC, Paris. Her current research interests include corporate governance, risk management and international finance. Elaine is a recipient of the Trinity Business School Teaching Excellence Award.
Elaine has been awarded several competitive grants for her research including the grant scheme from the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) and the Trinity College Arts and Social Science Benefaction Fund. Her research has been published in a range of leading journals, including the Journal of Banking and Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis and Finance Research Letters. Elaine is an active reviewer for leading journals in her field of research and also contributes to the Sunday Independent Newspaper.
Elaine has previously worked in Universities in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Lecturing courses including international finance, corporate financial management, mergers and acquisitions, financial principles and analysis, capital markets and investments, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Elaine has participated and presented her research at a number of international conferences including the International Finance and Banking Society, Asian Finance Association (Asian FA), Portuguese Finance Conference, Australasian Banking and Finance, Financial Markets and Corporate Governance, Academy of International Business, Global Finance Academy, Universitas 21 and INFINITI Conference.
