Amanda Shantz is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management. Prior to joining Trinity College Dublin, Amanda held academic positions in Canada, France, and the United Kingdom. Amanda completed her doctoral degree at the University of Toronto, received her master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and her undergraduate degree from McGill University.
Amanda’s research interests include human resource management, employee engagement and volunteering. She has published extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals including Human Relations, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, and International Journal of Management Reviews. Amanda has raised research funding from the Economic and Social Research Council, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and industry. Recently, she conducted research across five organisations in the UK on purposeful leadership. She is currently undertaking a large research project on employer sponsored volunteering. Amanda is also an Associate Editor of Human Relations. Amanda teaches courses at the undergraduate, post-graduate and executive levels. She also consults practitioners in the development and successful implementation of engagement strategies and most recently, on measuring the impact of employer sponsored volunteering activities. She regularly serves as a keynote speaker at practitioner conferences and seminars.
