Biography

Siobhán McGee is Chief Executive of ActionAid Ireland, part of ActionAid International and one of the world’s leading international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) working across 45 countries. Following 10 years in the financial services sector, she worked with the Red Cross (in Ireland and Malawi), Concern Worldwide (in Ireland and Kenya), and a range of other INGOs and nonprofits. In that context she has travelled and worked in 20+ African and Asian countries, most recently in Cambodia and Vietnam.

She is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin, and has been engaged in postgraduate business education since 2003, lecturing and writing on NGO Management, Business and International Development, Fundraising and Philanthropy. She is co-author with Dr Christina O’Connor (Maynooth University) of two case studies published in Principles and Practice of Marketing 8th edition, edited by Jobber & Chadwick Ellis, Sept 2015.  Her chapter ‘Ireland and Philanthropy’ is featured in Diversity and Philanthropy edited by Lilya Wagner (published by Praegar in early 2016). 

Siobhán was Fellow in Business and Development at University College Dublin’s School of Business 2014-2015.  She is a leading contributor on standards development in the charitable sector in Ireland, and has authored three main Codes of Practice, one of which will launch in January 2016. She is a board member of a therapeutic drug treatment centre in Dublin, previously she was founding chair of an entrepreneurial social enterprise delivering IT consultancy services to the non-profit sector.  She has an MBA from the Open University Business School.
