Biography

Dr. Shaen Corbet works as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Dublin City University Business School in Dublin, Ireland where he is Programme Chair for the Masters of Investment, Treasury and Banking and sits on the University Teaching and Learning Committee. Shaen holds a B.Comm (Economics) and M.Econ.Sc (International Finance) from National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and a Ph.D in Finance from Maynooth University under the direction of Professor Gregory Connor. Shaen has previously worked as a commodities and equities trader and as an economist with the Financial Stability Department at The Central Bank of Ireland. He has published a number of research papers in a range of top-quality internationally recognised journals and is a member of multiple inter-disciplinary working groups. Shaen has acted as an expert witness in a number of high profile international court cases, has provided expert reports to Government Departments and has overseen the expansion of multiple university education programmes into international markets. He is further involved in the process that has allowed DCU Business School to obtain its internationally recognised AACSB accreditation. Taught classes have included; Finance, Financial Engineering, International Finance, Financial Markets and Derivatives, Financial Theory and Markets, Risk Modelling, Derivatives for Climate Change, Emissions Markets and Aviation Finance, and Quantitative Methods in Finance (DCU), Irish Economy (Boston University), and Derivatives (Trinity College Dublin). He is actively involved in the fields of financial economics, financial technology (Fintech), financial markets, banking, crisis and financial stress measurement, crisis management and the effects of crises on financial markets.
